Dragon*Con

  • Sep. 7th, 2009 at 1:12 AM

We're home... there's another day of Dragon*Con going on in Atlanta right now but I'm not there. I'm in Michigan. Far far away. Sadness. :c

...we spent the entire weekend stalking Abney Park. Which... is pretty much what we went to do. Woot!
+5 Stalk point(s)!

I promised Nathan I wouldn't call him at all hours of the night and breathe all heavy into the phone like a pervert. Beth made no such promise. (Watch out.) My hair's doing funny things now from being up in hairfalls all weekend, my bird's mad at me for being gone so long, and the cat won't stop rubbing his face all over my luggage. If I get out of bed at all tomorrow, it's going to be only to take a shower. Then I'll probably go back to bed. Yay sleep! ...kinda haven't done that in a few days.

The plushies were loved by all! :D
I took a couple better pictures of them in the hotel room before giving them away, which is good because the lighting in my own room sucks. Now I just need some references of Jody so I can make hers! I ended up drawing a quick sketch for her before we checked out of our hotel in the meantime. :)

I can't believe it's already over... ;n;
...haha nobody's going to want to talk to me after a few hours when I go back to work on Tuesday. "Convention squeeing again? Just shut up already!"

Pretty sure sleep time is now. Yes. z__z

Abney Park Plushies

This is the most time-consuming project I've ever succeeded in seeing through to the end! I have issues with commitment, so I'm quite pleased with myself for completing these. I have one more to make, and I'm working on it right now. Well, obviously not RIGHT right now, since it's hard to sew and type at the same time, but I should have the last one done in the next few days.

It all started with a doodle on facebook:

Then... like some sort of crazy nut, I decided to actually make them.
Through blood, sweat, and tears, they were created! ...but mostly blood. :x Need some thimbles.

Pics under cut! )

I have no idea what they're going to DO with these when I hand them off (which will be bittersweet...) but I hope they like them anyway. ^.^

Drawing Progress

Like the creepy little fangirl I am, here's more AP fanart. :D
...because for some reason I can't seem to draw anything else right now. ^^;

I spent a good 20 hours on this picture, and took progress screenshots along the way. Instead of uploading them all one by one to my deviantART, I decided to put them all up here instead. There are sixteen of them so I stuck them behind a cut.

Thanks for looking! :D

Metrocon Photos!

  • Jun. 28th, 2009 at 2:17 AM

I finally got all the pictures from Metrocon (and the rest of our vacation down in sunny Florida) downloaded, resized, cropped, uncropped, recropped, deleted, recovered, rotated, and uploaded for all your viewing enjoyment!

They're sort of in sections... the first one being random stuff from Metrocon, the second being a whole slew of Abney Park concert photos, and the third being Busch Gardens (mostly birdies!). I put it behind a cut 'cause there are LOTS of pictures and we don't need anybody's computer exploding. :)

The advantage of livejournal over the deviantART journal feature: pictures.
I left out the doll photos. Haven't gone through those yet.

Thanks for looking! :D

Metrocon!

Since I post journals on my deviantART, it seems silly to cross-post here.
But I dunno. Cross-posting could be the coolest thing ever.

Today you get the abridged version!
We flew out to Florida for Metrocon last week, and I'm pretty sure Saturday was one of the best days of my life. Before the con, I was hoping to get a decent view of the Abney Park concert maybe, and possibly buy a CD or two... possibly get them to sign the doll shirt I made for Arlian. I had drawn a picture for them as well that I wanted to give to them if I had the chance. Not only did all of those happen, but I ended up buying all their CDs (and a sticker and a cool leather keychain), we had front and center for the concert, Nathaniel gave me a guitar pick from the stage (provoking dagger-eyes from the girl standing next to me, eek!), and we got to hang out with the band in their greenroom when it was over. What's above cloud nine? 'Cause that's where I was.

Arlian's shirt leveled up in coolness with the addition of the band's signatures. I think he's pretty pleased with himself.

I hope they can do a concert at a con closer to home in the next few years... Florida is quite a trip. Maybe ColossalCon in Sandusky, since the other local cons have the same musical guests every year. That would be the epitome of awesomeness.
I have my airship pirate dogtags on still... tried wearing them to Busch Gardens today but they turned my neck green. o_x

Tonight we're in a crappy motel. Crappy motel is crappy!
But there's free wireless so I'm not going to complain.

The first thing I'm going to do when I get home is order some crin online and fix my hairfalls. I napped in them twice. No good! They're starting to look kind of sad. Poo.

I miss Metrocon. ;~;
